Good to know
Setting Point is Anegada’s main bay and the base for everything on the island. The approach is shallow and reef-lined, so follow the marked channel in. Anegada is a flat coral atoll and nothing like the rest of the BVI โ flamingos in the salt pond, conch harvesting on Sherwin’s tour, and miles of white sand with some of the best snorkeling in the territory straight off the beaches. Most charters give it two nights. The bay itself is lined with restaurants that specialize in lobster: the Anegada Reef Hotel is where it started and still cooks over local hardwood in cut-down oil drums, alongside Potter’s, the Lobster Trap, and the Wonky Dog.
Good to know
- Follow the marked channel. The approach is shallow and reef-lined, and this is not the place to improvise.
- Many charter companies require a waiver for Anegada and will not send a chase boat this far north. If something goes wrong, you are on your own until you get back south.
- Order lobster ahead. The restaurants cook to order and need the notice.
- Bring snorkel gear and rent a Moke or take a taxi โ the best beaches are on the far side of the island.
