Good to know
Great Harbour is Jost Van Dyke’s main bay and the check-in port for the island. Good protection from wind and swell, strong cell signal, customs and the ferry terminal ashore, and Foxy’s and several other iconic beach bars right on the beach. The water is good but the bay stays busy with ferry and dinghy traffic — not the place to swim off the boat. North Latitude Marina is here for fuel and water but has no room for transient slips. There are a few good spots to anchor in the bay, but the local captains usually claim them early in the day. Many boaters tie up here and dinghy over to White Bay for the day — the ride there is usually smooth, but after a long afternoon at Soggy Dollar the ride back can be rough, which is why experienced boaters often take the taxi over the hill instead.

- Check-in port for Jost Van Dyke. Customs and the ferry terminal are ashore.
- The dinghy to White Bay is usually smooth going out and much rougher coming back in the afternoon trades. Consider a taxi over the hill for the return.
